Glasses

Ellery used to have an issue with both of her eyes turning outward, but she had an eye surgery to fix that. Not ideal, but it worked and she was looking great, no problems. Recently I've noticed her left eye now turns inward. That darn eye got worse and worse until sure enough now it's her constant "lazy eye". Took her to the eye doc and his medicine of choice this time.....

Glasses

Is it horrible of me to admit I would prefer surgery again?

I know I know, she is ADORABLE with those sweet pink frames and look at that face! Don't let her fool you, these glasses have made me want to rip my hair out. Ellery actually has ripped her hair out because of them.

Trying to get a 2 year old to wear glasses is next to impossible I have decided. My little sweet Ellery is very strong willed and can rip these things off before I even let go after putting them back on for the 100th time. I have tried really really hard not to get angry with her, but to just constantly put them on and stay happy and positive! But I am only human and I have only so much patience.

Imagine walking around the store and bending over to pick up glasses (of course you have to be certain not to run them over with the cart too) seriously every 5 steps. Then imagine sitting on the floor for 2 hours just putting them back on right after she rips them off and doing that over and over and over, determined not to give in before her just like supernanny teaches with time out. Don't say a word just keep putting them back on? Seriously, I am soooooooo not that patient!

I thought it was getting better, but I am loosing this battle. Ellery is actually very smart and she is just as stubborn as any normal 2 year old, but I can't make deals with her and I can't explain to her WHY she needs glasses. Meanwhile her eye gets worse but it's been 4 weeks now and I have aged a couple years. I acutally made an appt. with her doctor again to see if we could try something else. Wow, I needed to vent, glad I didn't admit to anything embarrassing (like how I may or may not have thrown the glasses in the other room, ellery won that one) Good thing they are durable

I have a little to no patients. I am still working on that part. I end up leaving the room to calm down. sad.

she looks so adorable though!! That would be hard to keep glasses on a little one. Hope you get some good news at the doctors!

The next step the doctor told me we would have to do is eye drops that make their vision blurry and the only way to fix it is to wear their glasses.

Sorry Ellery is being so stubborn. I have days like that with Jane and I give up way to fast on her.

I have to admit that I laughed a little at the end of your post where you talk about throwing them in the other room. That would have been me the first time! Good for you for sticking to your guns and putting them back on her time and time again. I hope your Doc comes up with a solution before you sprout too many gray hairs.

She really is dang cute in them!!
